Audition With Us
The Central City Chorus has openings for basses and tenors who are strong singers and enthusiastic performers. We enjoy lively rehearsals on Thursday evenings from September through May, and we present three concerts per season. In recent years the Chorus has performed Bach's Magnificat, the Brahms German Requiem, Mozart's C Minor Mass, Mendelssohn's Elijah, and the rarely-performed Requiem by Frederick Delius with orchestra, as well as numerous a cappella works spanning five centuries of music. The 50+-member Chorus is led by Phillip Cheah, with Assistant Conductor Brian Hamer.
Our next new member auditions will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, from 6:30 p.m., by appointment. To schedule an audition please send an email to CentralCityChorus@gmail.com. For audition requirements, please see the following links:
Rehearsal Schedule. Beginning in September 2011, we will rehearse at St. Ignatius of Antioch (552 West End Avenue @West 87th Street – View Map). Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings, 7:30 to 9:45 p.m., from September through May, with three Saturday "intensive" rehearsals per year.
We sing three to four concerts per season. In 2010–2011, we held concerts in December, March, and May; plus an extra fundraiser, Central City Cabaret III, in January.
